Can you wrangle filming 32 snowmobilers across three days in a raging blizzard and turn around media the same day? That was the ask from Polaris and Ten35 when they approached us about an initiative to share their love of powersport with a diverse consumer base. As long time riders of Polaris ourselves, we couldn’t say no.
Sounds simple right? Well with four cameras, two photographers, one drone operator, and 26 social influencers with snowmobiles on the loose, we knew organization needed to be top priority. We faced a myriad of challenges on this project, but we focused on three key elements.
Creative directors, event coordinators, VP of sales, photographers, videographers, project managers, producers, snowmobile guides and social media influencers were all stakeholders in this production. Fostering open lines of communication through Slack for pre-visualization proved critical to achieving the clients’ vision for deliverables and ensuring everyone was in place and on time.
Moving at the speed of thought, the social influencers requested video and mograph the evening after shooting. This rapid turn-around meant we needed to offload all of the footage, create motion templates for posting, and deliver within 2 hours of the final take. We did this through offloading in transit after filming and utilizing dynamic linking in Adobe Premiere and After Effects.
Sounds easy but tight control of the file structure during offload, templating our workflow to ensure assets were ingested consistently, transcoded into multiple formats for social media, and delivered at high quality and on time meant constant communication between Wave3 and the producers.
